Welcome to Shade Tree Labradors!

“No matter how little money and how few possessions you own, having a dog makes you rich.”

-Louis Sabin

How It Began

Having been around dogs of many varieties our whole lives, we were always partial to the Labrador Retriever. We met our first Silver (Chocolate) Labrador while vacationing in the NC mountains and immediately fell in love. After researching the breed for about 5 years, our hearts were set on breeding Labrador Retrievers. We spent another year searching for the perfect pair to be part of our family. Although a controversial color, we’ve found in our silver Labs the exact same temperament and demeaner that first caused us to love the Labrador Retriever.

Sire and Dam

Rowan (sire) and Willow (dam) are both AKC registered Labrador retrievers. True to the nature of labs, they love to take trips to the lake for a swim, they love playing fetch, and they love to accompany us on trips to the park and store. Willow is very mellow, gentle, and enjoys a good game of tug-of-war. Her parents were family pets that mostly roamed around the house and farm. Rowan is dedicated, loving, and always ready for the next adventure. Both his mom and dad loved duck hunting, and Rowan himself will go into any thicket to retrieve his beloved Kong ball. They both weigh in at around 90lbs., Rowan being more slender and muscular while Willow is slightly shorter and stocky. Well trained and intelligent, Rowan and Willow have made for the perfect companions for our family.

Breeding Practices

Our breeding program is designed around improving the breed for a better, stronger, and smarter family companion. The puppies are born indoors, closely monitored, and lovingly handled from the whelping box to the new families! All pups will undergo early neurological stimulation (ENS), early socialization exercises, and noise desensitization. We try to familiarize the pups with different terrains and environments, their new names (when given timely), and have the pups litter trained prior to going to their new homes. We invest a lot of time in our pups, and it is all time well spent to achieve our goal… an overall better companion for you and your family!

All puppies will be up-to-date on vaccines, de-wormers, and health checked by a licensed veterinarian prior to going home with their new family.

Shipping/Delivery Policies

We do not ship our puppies, nor do we feel comfortable handing them over to third party agencies for transportation purposes. Perfect scenario would be for the new owner(s) to come out to our home and see the environment our dogs are raised in. Meet our dame and sire and the rest of the family. We understand this isn’t always possible, so we don’t mind meeting at a mutually convenient location or delivering your new companion personally for a fee.

Our Process

All puppies are purchased on a first come, first served basis. If 2 people are interested in the same puppy, the first one to inquire will have the first pic. If all puppies are sold we form a waiting list for the next litter on the same first come, first served basis. (Note: the next litter could be 6 months or 1 year apart. We only have one male and one female, our family pets, and we don’t plan on getting more dogs just to pump out puppies for a profit. Our program is about quality, not quantity.) We require a non-refundable $350 deposit to hold puppies for their new families. Puppies will be ready to go home at 8 weeks old.
